Stacey Smythe joins Law Offices of Molly B. Kenny firm with over 24 years of legal experience, focusing in Family Law, Estate planning and Probate. Stacey Smythe graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a bachelor of arts in Business Administration and Sociology. She received her Juris Doctorate from University of Puget Sound School of Law in 1991, nka Seattle University School of Law. She clerked for the Honorable Karen Seinfeld in the Pierce County Superior Court during her final year of law school. Hon. Karen Seinfeld retired as chief judge of the Washington State Court of Appeals.
Ms. Smythe was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 1992. She worked in her father’s practice at Smythe & Van Siclen located in Auburn, Washington. In 1992, Ms. Smythe and her father formed a partnership known as Smythe & Smythe P.S. Inc., serving the Family Law needs of King and Pierce Counties for many years. After the untimely passing of her father, Ms. Smythe continued serving family law clients as a sole practitioner in Federal Way since 2009.
Ms. Smythe is committed to an open line of communication with her clients and recognizes the need to keep clients fully informed of all aspects of their case. Ms. Smythe takes an information gathering approach to the area of family law and uses the discovery process to fully address all issues in a case. Her appreciation of the mediation process has enabled her to think outside the box when structuring settlements that benefit the clients beyond measure. Ms. Smythe believes that the art of structuring the Marital Settlement Agreement and the subtleties associated with all that encompasses allows his clients to feel confident when walking into their new life.
Ms. Smythe represents both men and woman in a wide range of Family Law Matters including divorce, child custody, third party custody, Child Support modification, Paternity matters Mediation and Estate planning. Ms. Smythe focuses on helping clients understand their rights, empower them to make decisions for themselves and protect their best interests at all stages of the legal process. Ms. Smythe is an advocate for children and strives to pursue the goals of her clients that will serve the best interest of their children.
Ms. Smythe also provides Estate planning services and including drafting Wills, Durable Powers of Attorney, Trusts, Living Wills, Community Property Agreements and Probate matters. Ms. Smythe is also skilled in advising and drafting pre-nuptial agreements, property settlement agreements and “Living Together” Agreements.
